On July 6, 1944, near the military settlement, a group of enemy forces attempted to break through to Minsk.

Having received orders to fire a salvo at an enemy troop concentration, comrade Mitkevich moved his launchers under enemy fire to their firing position and fired a salvo in direct fire mode. When the truck's driver was wounded and the Hitlerites got very close to the firing position, comrade Mitkevich saw to it that the attack was repelled and personally moved the launcher away from the incursion area.
